BIOGRAPHY

Fouad is the firm’s Managing Partner. He is a Lebanese-qualified lawyer with more than twenty years of experience practicing in Middle Eastern jurisdictions and in-depth knowledge of Qatari law and the Qatari regulatory landscape.

Fouad has been based in Qatar since 2007 when he joined Clyde & Co and helped in setting up their Doha office. He then joined the firm in 2013. Prior to that, he worked over 5 years as an in-house General Counsel for a group of companies operating across the MENA region. Fouad also worked for 5 years at a well-known Lebanese law firm, which was once associated with a London based firm, before accepting the General Counsel in-house role.

Fouad has extensive experience advising on corporate restructuring and foreign investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, funds, employment law, commercial contracts, lease, retail, real estate, malls, management, franchising, agency and distributors agreements, as well as a broad range of corporate and commercial work. Fouad’s understanding of Qatar regulations and how best to approach obstacles enable him to advise clients seeking entry into Qatar.

Fouad represents clients in a wide range of infrastructure and technology matters and has served as counsel to government agencies, private companies, developers, lenders, borrowers, suppliers, engineering, and construction firms in projects and transactions in Qatar. Fouad routinely advises local and international companies in connection with the establishment, maintenance and termination of Qatar joint ventures, as well as corporate acquisitions and disposals and in connection with local regulatory requirements and developments.

In January 2019, Fouad was prestigiously appointed as the legal counsel of the Swiss Embassy in Qatar, a true testament to the credibility he holds within the field of law.

Fouad sits on the board of directors of the Association of European Attorneys and was appointed as Vice President for Asia, representing QATAR on the board of directors of the AEA.

He has established the first ever wholly foreign owned company in Qatar for a global IT consultancy provider and the first two wholly foreign owned companies in Qatar for 2 private education providers, one of which is a leading education provider in the region.

Fouad has been contributing in the Doing Business issues, a World Bank and IFC joint publication, since 2010. He has published many articles and presented at various speaking engagements on a range of corporate and commercial issues, related to doing business in Qatar.
